Great fit,

I finally got around to painting and bed-lining the bumper, and getting it installed. I already had tie in brackets installed, but it was great that Dirtbound included them, because for the price, it would be a little painful to have to drop another $100 on mounting brackets.

The welds are good, and the bumper fits great, even with my aftermarket steel box tail lights (on a 1990, so the boxy square ones.)

The problem is that in all of the pictures on Dirtbound’s website, they show the hitch receiver sticking out of the bumper about an inch. My hitch receiver was welded in flush with the bumper (at the top.) I have my spare tire on a hitch-mount, and because the bumper’s receiver tube is flush, and only like 4” long, I have to mount the spare tire carrier so far out from the bumper (and the back hatch, otherwise I can’t open and close it), that it just becomes a 75lb (running 35’s) giant leverage arm, in fact, it weighs so
Much it actually causes the bumper to flex.

So, if you’re not actually using the receiver for anything with weight on it, (or maybe just as a shackle mount or whatever) then this bumper is fine. I actually ended up cutting the receiver out, and putting a weld-in one in its place, but making it extend out from the bumper a little bit.

I also ended up cutting off the wimpy 1/2” clevis mounts, and putting on 1” ones.

So, the bumper is nice, and fits great and looks great, but,
I’m kind of bummed that the picture is not the exact same. I will attach pics if possible, so you can see what I mean. I should have just bought the DIY, since I ended up having to DIY half of it anyway…. But, I didn’t have a welder months ago when I ordered it.

Only complaint is the 2 extra center bolts on the brackets requires 17mm socket would be nice if there were either smaller head shoulder bolts or Allen/torx just to make tighten a little easier. Over all love the bumper
