The Bed Rack I Needed.

I was looking for a bed rack to load kayaks and other items to clear the cab of my tundra and work with my existing tonneau cover…this was pretty much only option I found that met that criteria. Haven’t installed it yet since I still need to get it painted, but overall it looks nice and well built. 4 stars instead of 5 since for some reason the part numbers (2660) are etched into the outside of the uprights. Maybe there is reason for this, but also feel like the numbers could have been on the inside where they wouldn’t be seen. So, will need to grind that down before painting it.

These are nice sliders but the front attachment arm bracket on the pinch seam needs some tweaking. The bolts are just make it into the seam. The arm needs to be moved up just a bit. This is a common problem with this product.

Excellent Fabrication

The fabrication of these Rock Sliders is high quality including the welding. As a fabricator of years ago, These weldments are top notch. I reached out with a concern and received a quick response that made sense. The only reason for four stars versus five is the lack of the option for powder coating. I highly recommend Dirtbound products. I have a couple of their other products and am very pleased.

Universal bed rack base honest review

I purchased the universal bed rack base for my 2015 Tacoma. Amongst all the other bed rack options on the market the ability to use this rack and extended bases with a tonneau cover of my choosing and spend under $500 is ultimately why I decided to purchase this particular rack. Upon inspection of the final product I was mostly happy with the quality. I say mostly because upon inspection I found that where the upper crossmember supports had been welded, they were only welded on the outside face of the supports. The inside of the supports still show a non welded seam. Now whether dirtbound feels the joint is strong enough by only welding the outside of the joint seam, or there was a lack of quality control and my parts were not finished correctly is unknown to me. But as a mechanic by trade who has done a fair share of welding I would have personally welded both sides of a welded joint if they were both easily accessible, as these seams are. I will keep an eye on these areas for signs of cracking and weld myself if necessary. My only other gripe was that the carriage bolts that I received to use with the provided rail mounts were too short to properly mount the tonneau bases to, leaving me to have to go out mid project and purchase longer carriage bolts. All that being said I am happy with my bed rack, it suits my intended purposes well and I have subsequently placed an order for the dirbound Molle panels as these will tie the bed rack towers together nicely.

XJ sliders

Fit and finish is excellent. If you are in middle of a build expect to wait a long time to receive, like 6 weeks. For what they are the cost and wait time is not impressive. They come in raw oiled cold rolled steel, you will need to clean and paint them.

cubby plate

This item was built well and set in place well, however the time to receive was extremely over the recommended time frame for it without any updates as to why it was taking so long to receive. Priced right but that was my concern with future purchases.

This bumper kit was reallllly nice! The only gripe I had was the instructions from the website made me question the assembly of the bumper. But it all Keyed together perfect. So the instructions on the web page need to be updated.

xj front bumper hardware kit

The only things that I wish was different. Is the diameter of the washers should have been larger. The small washers bent into the bolt holes of the bumper ever so slightly leaving less surface area for the bolt head to snug to. The second thing would be the 4 bolts (2 on each side) the very front bolts that replace the U nuts should have also been larger diameter bolt. I am running the bolts from this kit. But I will be getting replacement larger ones and larger washers. Only reason I 4 star this review of the hardware kit.

Great fit,

I finally got around to painting and bed-lining the bumper, and getting it installed. I already had tie in brackets installed, but it was great that Dirtbound included them, because for the price, it would be a little painful to have to drop another $100 on mounting brackets. The welds are good, and the bumper fits great, even with my aftermarket steel box tail lights (on a 1990, so the boxy square ones.) The problem is that in all of the pictures on Dirtbound’s website, they show the hitch receiver sticking out of the bumper about an inch. My hitch receiver was welded in flush with the bumper (at the top.) I have my spare tire on a hitch-mount, and because the bumper’s receiver tube is flush, and only like 4” long, I have to mount the spare tire carrier so far out from the bumper (and the back hatch, otherwise I can’t open and close it), that it just becomes a 75lb (running 35’s) giant leverage arm, in fact, it weighs so Much it actually causes the bumper to flex. So, if you’re not actually using the receiver for anything with weight on it, (or maybe just as a shackle mount or whatever) then this bumper is fine. I actually ended up cutting the receiver out, and putting a weld-in one in its place, but making it extend out from the bumper a little bit. I also ended up cutting off the wimpy 1/2” clevis mounts, and putting on 1” ones. So, the bumper is nice, and fits great and looks great, but, I’m kind of bummed that the picture is not the exact same. I will attach pics if possible, so you can see what I mean. I should have just bought the DIY, since I ended up having to DIY half of it anyway…. But, I didn’t have a welder months ago when I ordered it.

These were great! Just what I needed, but would only add the specs or just dimensions on the site. I don't recall them being there, but my application was a 2019 ford ranger. I had to find a tacoma just to verify they would work.

Almost Perfect

This is a great quality product. Nice solid steel so much better than the factory plastic tray. The issue I ran into was the bolt holes did not line up at all. Also, my AC hardlines which run around the battery interfered with tray placement, so even if the bolt holes were correct it still would not have fit due to those lines. I ended up moving the entire tray about a half inch inboard and drilled new holes. Not a huge deal but someone with an older XJ like mine that has AC should be aware of this. I have an 88 XJ.
